Vue 5 tutorial - 3D materials

What this digital art tutorial is about

It covers creating Vue materials (textures) from scratch, as well as how to modify Vue's built-in materials. Use of the Function Editor and Filter Editor are shown, as well as how to add custom texture images to a material.

This free 5 part Flash video series, with voice narration, can be viewed from this page, or downloaded. The largest of the 5 parts is 82MB, so you might not want to download.

Compatibility with other Vue 3D software

This tutorial applies to both Vue 5 Esprit and Vue 5 Infinite and later versions. It was created in Vue 5 Infinite.

Notes

1. You might want to start with the sound turned down a bit. The mouse click sound effect is too loud.

2. This tutorial will not run inside the Vue 'Help' System. However, by running this video in one window and Vue in another you should be able to switch back and forth, following along in your own copy of VUE.

3. In the video I make 2 comments about materials I'm using being ones I paid for. Actually all the materials (except the 2 texture images I made) come with Vue 5.

4. This is my first video. I'm very interested in comments which will help me produce a better video tutorial next time.
