| About our ebook, 'Art Head Start' | ||
| Q. | What's an ebook? | |
A. |
'ebook' stands for 'electronic book'. It's usually a book meant to be read on your computer.
Ebooks have some advantages and some disadvantages, compared to physical books. They can contain movies, sounds and other media, as well as live links to the Web and to internal book navigation aids - very much like web pages and also very good for teaching and learning.
On the other hand, display screens have lower resolution than books, making them harder to read from. And a computer is hardly as convenient as a physical book. |
|
| Q. | Don't I need a special ebook reader to view it? | |
A. |
Not for our ebook. It's an Adobe PDF (Portable Document Format) file. You read it with the very popular and cross-platform Adobe Acrobat Reader.
Many computers come with Adobe Acrobat already installed. There are many PDF files used on web sites and in business, so it's a very handy program to have. If you don't already have it, you can download a free copy of Acrobat from Adobe here. |
|
| Q. | What is the Art Head Start ebook about? | |
A. |
It's about how boost your art skills. How to communicate using images and how to do that better.
Many digital artists and digital art students don't have formal training in art or design, in visual communication. 'Art Head Start' is our way of helping to fill that void by providing much of the information you would get in an art school, plus info from the author's own extensive experience in 2D and 3D computer graphics and other image making.
We've provided a sample chapter in PDF format (be patient, takes a while to open) and a copy of the first 2 levels of our Table of Contents. There is so much information that we didn't have room to detail the lowest levels of the ebook's actual Table of Contents. |
|
| Q. | Who is your book intended for? | |
A. |
'Art Head Start' is written for digital art students and others in the computer graphics community who don't have formal art training, but would like to learn more about the practice of visual communication and how to add realism, meaning, clarity and drama to their images, without necessarily going back to school. |
|

A. |
